Embracing Jewish Diversity – Grantees 2024

The European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) launched the “Embracing Jewish Diversity” program, which is a comprehensive initiative dedicated to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI), and comprises of networks, micro-grants, toolkit publications, and the appointment of a dedicated Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Officer to oversee its implementation.

Ahlan Europe – MENA Seminar (Europe wide)

Ahlan Europe is organising the first-ever conference in Greece from May 9th to 12th, 2024, aimed at addressing the underrepresentation and unique challenges faced by European Jewish students of Middle Eastern and North African heritage. The conference seeks to foster collaboration, empowerment, and awareness among MENA-Jewish students and young professionals in Europe, celebrating the diversity of Sephardi and Mizrahi Jewish experiences.


CCOJB – Exploring Diversity around a Queer Shabbat (Belgium)

CCOJB is bridging gaps in LGBTQIA+ diversity within the Jewish community through a lecture by Alain Beit from Beit Haverim association, followed by a Queer Shabbat. The initiative aims to create inclusive spaces and fight against all forms of homophobia, anti-Semitism, and discrimination, fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities.


CEJI – A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe – Creating Safe(r) and Brave(r) Spaces (France)

CEJI’s event in Strasbourg, France, brings together young people from Council of Europe Member States to explore diversity, share skills, and promote active citizenship. The focus on creating brave spaces empowers youth to make their voices heard and be proud of their identities while respecting others’ experiences, fostering collaboration and inclusivity.


Glasgow Jewish Society – International Women’s Week (UK)

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Glasgow Jewish Society is organising three days of educational events highlighting Jewish women’s contributions to leadership positions, empowering women and providing a safe space for personal and professional development.


Haver Srbija – FaLaFel – Jewish and Israeli LGBTQIA+ Festival (Serbia)

Haver Srbija’s festival in Belgrade, Serbia, aims to build bridges between communities, promote Israeli, Jewish, and LGBTQIA+ culture, and confront discrimination. Through various activities, including movie screenings, workshops, and cultural events, the festival fosters dialogue, education, and empowerment among minorities.


Hillel Deutschland eV – Empowering FLINTA-led Jewish Life (Germany)

Hillel Deutschland’s project focuses on creating safe spaces for Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Nonbinary, Trans, and Agender individuals within the Jewish community in Germany, celebrating Jewish rituals and fostering inclusion through events like Rosh Chodesh and Shabbat dinners.


ICE- Israeli Community Europe – Zussamen Berlin – Empowering Women Through Tanakh Exploration (Germany)

BeZavta initiative empowers Israeli-Jewish women in Europe through biweekly study groups exploring women’s stories in the Tanakh, celebrating their roles as matriarchs, leaders, and advocates.


JCC Budapest – Empowering Women Across Communities (Hungary)

JCC Budapest’s Women Empowerment Program addresses issues and provides support to women in diverse communities, fostering empowerment and equity through awareness and tangible initiatives.


JCC Warsaw Foundation – Rosh Chodesh Women’s Group (Poland)

JCC Warszawa’s Rosh Chodesh program offers a platform for Jewish women to connect, share experiences, develop leadership skills, and deepen their Jewish knowledge, fostering collective empowerment and community strength.


Jewish Student Association Rotterdam – The Culture Taste of Cultures (The Netherlands)

This initiative aims to promote diversity, equality, and inclusion within Jewish communities by showcasing diverse Jewish cultures through food, traditions, and family histories, fostering connection and understanding among members.


JSUD and Keshet Germany – Pride Shabbat – A Jewish celebration of Pride Month (Germany)

By organising Shabbat Dinners during Pride Month, this initiative aims to raise awareness of queer Jewish issues within German Jewish communities, creating safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals.


JU – Jødisk ungdomssammenslutning – Experience Mizrahi culture through Shabbat (Denmark)

This project introduces Danish Jewish community members to Mizrahi Jewish customs through Shabbat gatherings, promoting cultural diversity and unity within the Jewish community.


JOY Finland Juutalainen Opiskelijayhdistys – The JOY of Inclusion (Finland) 

JOY Finland’s events will celebrate minority groups within the Jewish community, fostering inclusivity and promoting diversity through various cultural and educational activities.


Masorti Judaism UK – Noam Alumni LGBTQIA+ & Neurodiverse Community and Network Building Project (UK)

Masorti Judaism UK is building networks and communities for LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse young Jewish adults, creating safe and inclusive spaces within the movement.


UEJF Strasbourg – Springshabbat (France)

UEJF’s Springshabbat project aims to promote gender equality and women empowerment within the French Jewish community through sessions and discussions during a shabbatton event, fostering awareness and dialogue among students.


Unione Giovani Ebrei d’Italia (UGEI) – Shorasheinu – Our Roots (Italy)

UGEI’s project immerses Italian Jewish youth in the history and culture of Persian and Libyan Jewish communities, promoting inclusivity and understanding through various educational and cultural initiatives.
