Empowering Equity: A Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit for Jewish Communal Spaces

This report explores the state of gender mainstreaming within Jewish communal spaces and NGOs, looking at both the progress made and the challenges that continue to affect gender equality and representation. It identifies five key challenges, including the lack of accountability and diversity strategies, biases in leadership selection, perceptions around leadership and caregiving responsibilities, and insufficient male involvement in gender mainstreaming efforts.

The report also sets out six practical steps for organisations looking to strengthen gender inclusion, from assessing their current practices and setting measurable goals to developing gender-sensitive policies, building awareness, and monitoring progress. Ultimately, it aims to support Jewish organisations in creating more inclusive and equitable communal spaces where diverse voices are represented and valued.
