Summer U is the biggest event of the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) and it has been bringing together young Jewish students and professionals (18–30 years old) from all over Europe and beyond since 1983. This unique and the biggest gathering of Jewish students in Europe is providing the best that summer has to offer – networking with Jews of different backgrounds, workshops, panels, Shabbat celebration, sport and pool activities while celebrating our diverse Jewish identities. This year Summer U is celebrating its 40th birthday!
The whole Summer U is created and implemented by international volunteers who, in Summer U language, are called Makers.
If you are someone who would like to develop event management skills, meet with politicians, activists, educators from around Europe and beyond, explore Jewish ways of being and living (yours is already perfect so don’t worry), meet new Jewish friends, and is ready for a lot of fun and a lot of work – join the Makers team 2023 who shapes and organises the largest peer-led Jewish youth event in Europe.
Joining the EUJS 2023 Makers Team means joining a half-year-long adventure! You will not only bring to life the largest peer-led European Jewish youth event, but you will also join us this April for a team-building, skills development, and Jewish learning experience where you will meet other Makers and EUJS staff coming from different and diverse European Jewish communities.
Who are we looking for?
Motivated, dedicated, reliable, and fun Jewish students or young professionals who work well in a team and are able to commit to attending Summer U, a few days before Summer U, as well as one preparatory weekend happening in April. You will have to dedicate several hours per week from May to August to ensure a fantastic Summer U – all worthwhile, rest assured!

20th–23rd of April 2023 – Summer U team-building and preparation weekend in Málaga, Spain
April–August 2023 – Online meetings with the Makers and EUJS team
10th–13th of August 2023 – Summer U final preparation week in Málaga, Spain
14th–21st of August 2023 – Summer U!!!
21st–22nd of August 2023 – Closing of Summer U for the Makers team
Somewhere between October – December 2023 (TBC) – Makers Reunion!
