EUJS’ dedication to Jewish student activism and advocacy was brought to an all-time-high this week as the EUJS team alongside a record-breaking 30 of the most prominent Jewish student leaders came together to take part in a unique presidential delegation training. The weekend’s events, organised by EUJS, was then followed by the three-day AJC Global Forum, also held in the American capital.
Meeting at the hotel in Washington, D.C. on Friday, participants got to know one another by participating in an intimate Friday night where, after a unique Shabbat service at the local synagogue, each student leader was given the chance to share inspirational stories, tell jokes and even show off their rapping skills!
The evening’s fun was then followed by a two-day workshop where students were given the time to introduce each of their unions, their work, including some of the challenges and best practices of their communities. Whilst common challenges arose with many of the representatives present, there were many other practices which drew a great deal of attention and were shared amongst others with great enthusiasm.
As well as this, participants received leadership training in addition to tips and concrete plans for action intended to strengthen union work and the relationships involved in the process of making them successful. During this time, the group were informed of the ways in which EUJS helps to facilitate union work and introduced to the various opportunities open for students to get involved in.
The weekend was topped off viewing all that Washington had to offer as the EUJS delegation met with other young attendees from around the world at a rooftop bar in the run up to the AJC’s Global Forum.
