The European Union of Jewish Students Launches “Mind the Vote!” Campaign

The European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) presents the Mind The Vote! Campaign, aiming at empowering young European citizens to take an active stand during the upcoming European Parliament’s elections and counter the rise of extremists and populists parties.

The Mind The Vote! Campaign, initiated by EUJS and developed in cooperation with its member Unions, aims at raising awareness among young Jewish voters, but also youth in general, throughout Europe. We want to address discrimination, racism and anti-Semitism in the context of the upcoming European Parliament elections – that are more relevant than ever due to the rise of populist and radical right wing parties in many EU member states.

By promoting hate-speech, discrimination and racism, these parties not only threaten ethnic and religious minorities but are a danger to all European Citizens, our rights, and also the entire democratic system and values upon which the EU is founded.

We believe that there is an urgent necessity to sensitize young voters about these issues and the danger of indifference towards politics, especially on a European Level, and encourage them to actively oppose these worrying developments in Europe by voting in the elections.

The Mind the Vote! website – www.mindthevote.eu – is providing detailed information about the upcoming election, the rise of populist parties but also their political counterparts and their involvement in fighting these important issues that endanger the European Values. We also produce and collect resources for local initiatives aimed at awareness raising and long-term involvement of youth. In cooperation with our national young Jewish unions we showcase country profiles providing a detailed analysis of national campaigns, parties and discrimination. This wants to provide a helpful overview but also to engage a broader audience by uniting beyond borders, race, ethnicity and faith against discrimination and racism.

The Campaign will mainly be online through the website and social media (#MindTheVote!), but we also encourage our followers to engage, by organizing local events and/or participating in already existing initiatives.

Educate, get involved and use your voice! Mind the Vote!
