Washington D.C. – 6th – 13th of June 2024
By invitation of the American Jewish Committee, 20 EUJS leaders, representing 13 countries across Europe, joined the AJC Global Forum Shabbaton and Conference in Washington D.C., USA. Engaging in meaningful conversations, discussing important issues related to a global Jewish future, and learning from experts in a range of fields, our delegation is extremely grateful to the American Jewish Committee for hosting us and celebrating the work of our Unions on Campus.
EUJS President Emma Hallali spoke at the opening plenary on a panel alongside representatives from the USA, Canada, Chile, South Africa, Israel and Argentina. She spoke from a European and student perspective on the status quo of antisemitism on European campuses and the current challenges, as well as the outlook for the coming months.
Following the Global Forum, EUJS hosted an in-person Presidents Unite+ which gathered Union Presidents to share best practices, discuss issues facing their Unions, and attend important meetings relevant to Europe-US relations.
The delegation went on a tour of the White House, visiting the seat of the American President. This was a great opportunity for the delegation to gain some insights into the premises of one of the most important political buildings. Furthermore, the Union Presidents visited the US Holocaust Memorial Museum as well as the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
