RESOLUTION – Exposing Anti-Zionist Threats to Jewish Unity

EUJS notes that:

1. On January 2024, over 20 Member Unions co-signed a statement made by EUJS on anti-zionist Jewish groups and their damage to our Jewish community.

2. The majority of Jews in Europe identify themselves as Zionists and support the adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

3. Although anti-Zionist Jewish groups constitute a small dissenting voice within the broader Jewish community, certain anti-Zionist Jewish groups continue to present themselves as representatives of Jewish communities in public.

4. By definition, Anti-Zionist Jewish groups oppose Zionism, which is the movement advocating for the self-determination and statehood of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland, the land of Israel.

5. For the past few months, many anti-Zionist Jewish groups have discredited the work of many Member Unions, casting doubt on their efforts and attempting to downplay the rising antisemitism. Additionally, many anti-Zionist Jewish groups have denied Israel’s right to self-defense, and on several occasions, they have dismissed the barbaric acts committed by Hamas on October 7th, justifying them as “acts of resistance

EUJS believes that:

1. As a Zionist organisation, we have the duty to support the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in their ancestral homeland, the land of Israel.

2. It is legitimate to respect the position of not considering oneself a Zionist

3. Any form of tokenization of our community’s causes is an affront to the history and a threat to the realisation of the mission of European Jewish communities.

4. The tokenization of anti-Zionist Jews and the spread of disinformation are causing significant harm to Jewish and Israeli communities in Europe.

5. Many Anti-Zionist Jewish groups, like Jewish Voice for Peace, are complicit in spreading antisemitic views.

EUJS resolves to:

 1. Restrain from collaborating with Anti-Zionist Jewish organisations.

2. Promote non-partisan education on Zionism in civic, academic, and digital spaces.

3. Promote research into active anti-Zionist groups in Europe to uncover their problematic ties, particularly any connections with radical Islamist organisations, such as Samidoun, the European affiliate of the PFLP.

4. Advocate for fair representation of Young Jews and their shared values in European society.
