Preamble:
On October 7th 2023, the worst terrorist attack in the history of Israel happened. This terrorist attack has affected us all, as jews, as Zionists, in Israel and in the Diaspora. After the Hamas terrorist attacks, Jewish students have experienced direct and indirect consequences of October 7th, and the following rise of antisemitism. The bond between Israel and the Diaspora has never been stronger. Since the beginning of the war, the need for medical and essential supplies has dramatically increased. Families have been displaced and soldiers have been called back to the frontlines, resulting in an economic slowdown for Israel. As a consequence, the support of the entire global Diaspora has become now, more than ever before, a vital need for Israel and its citizens.
EUJS notes that:
1. All kinds of needs, especially medical supplies, have been sent from the whole Diaspora to support citizens in the South of Israel, in Kibbutzim and Moshavim along the Gaza Strip attacked by Hamas on October 7th, as well as financial support brought by the diaspora.
2. The Diaspora’s support has been essential in advocating to the international community, in order to acknowledge and take action regarding the events of 7th of October and the terrorism waged by Hamas since then.
EUJS believes that:
1. The future of Israel and European jewish communities are at stake.
2. Jewish students across Europe have a voice and responsibility to support Israel.
3. Volunteering is an important way of helping the Israeli economy and society, whilst Israel remains in the ongoing conflict.
4. Supplies are essential to help the families of the Gaza envelope and Northern Israel.
EUJS proposes to:
1. Strengthen the connection between Jewish Students in Europe and Israeli students by supporting volunteering opportunities in Israel and connecting with Israeli students within Europe through the member unions.
2. Organise and collect supplies to help the Israeli community rebuild their lives – establishing a link between each union and Israeli students in this exceptional situation in Europe.
3. Be the voice of all needs of Jewish students on European campuses in order to support Israel.
