Preamble:
When Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, killing more than 1100 people, more than 230 people were taken hostage. Since then, Jews across Europe are fighting for the safe return of all hostages remaining in Gaza until this day. Unfortunately, the media attention as well as the attention of the public, decreases with every day. The world has slowly begun to forget about the 100+ people in Hamas captivity until this day. As Jewish students, standing with the state of Israel, it has to be our main priority to advocate and do everything in our power for the release of the hostages. We cannot let the world forget about them.
EUJS notes that:
1. On October 7th 2023, more than 230 people have been abducted to Gaza by Hamas. To the day, more than 110 people are still held hostage in Gaza in inhumane conditions by Hamas and other terrorist organisations
2. According to the testimonies of released hostages, many of those being held captive are seriously hurt and need immediate medical health.
3. Within nine months, the hostages were not seen by the Red Cross or any other humanitarian organisation.
4. The attention of the media and the European society is decreasing.
EUJS believes that:
1. It is one of Jewish students’ main priorities to do everything in our power to advocate for the release of all the hostages.
2. EUJS must keep reminding the world about their fate.
3. A hostage deal is necessary to ensure the hostage’s safe return.
EUJS resolves to:
1. Put pressure on European governments to achieve a hostage deal.
2. Continue to raise awareness about the hostage’s fate through social-media and in person campaigns, demonstrations and events.
3. Continue advocating for the release of all hostages in every space where EUJS is active
4. Be in touch with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum and organisations working on the hostages situation.
5. Continue fighting false narratives and disinformation in regards to the hostages and the conditions they are being held under.
